Teens, Health & Technology: A National Survey
Author: Wartella, E., Rideout, V., Zupancic, H., Beaudoin-Ryan, L., & Lauricella, A. (Northwestern University)
This is a study of a nationally-representative sample of teens that documents teen internet use. It also documents teens' use of newer technologies for health, such as mobile apps, social networking sites, electronic gaming and wearable devices. This study examines how often teens use these tools, what topics they are most concerned with, how satisfied they are with the health information they get through these means and whether they have ever changed their behavior due to online or other digital health tools. It also covers details such as how teens look for health information online, the degree to which they use social media for this purpose, how much they trust various types of health information sites, and why some teens are not satisfied with online health information.
