Latest “Research in the Works” from UMass on Perinatal Depression
September 07, 2016 | Emily Taylor
The latest “Research in the Works” piece from the UMass Systems and Psychosocial Advances Research Center describes the ongoing research they are doing to bring treatment to the 1 in 7 women who suffer from perinatal depression (depression during pregnancy or in the year after delivery). Although perinatal depression can have serious negative impact on the mother, fetus, child and family it often goes undiagnosed and untreated. Researchers hope that reaching women in the Ob/Gyn office will help to address this problem.
