Description:

Leaders are essential to implementing, expanding, and sustaining systems of care across the nation. To be successful in this work, they need a strong set of leadership and change management skills. Whether it is motivating others to embrace a common goal or finding ways to address the resistance that change generates, leaders who understand their work as change agents are vital. This learning community session will assist you to explore the many roles you play in supporting system of care development. We will distinguish your roles between management and leadership, advocacy and leadership, and authority and leadership. We will also discuss how individuals gain informal leadership roles and become “authorized,” even though they may not be in positions of authority. Issues of power over, power with and power within will also be explored, and opportunities for questions and dialogue will be provided.
