Announcing the Name of the NWIC Turtle Mascot

This summer hundreds of you answered the call and sent in your suggestions for a name for the NWIC Turtle. At the National Wraparound Implementation Academy (NWIA) in Baltimore, MD Sept. 9–11, attendees voted for their favorite from among the top choices. The final name selected by attendees is… CHANCE!

"Chance" captures the optimistic, resilient spirit of our NWIC turtle mascot. Participating in Wraparound requires everyone on the team – from Wraparound care coordinators, to youth and families and other team members – be willing to take a chance on this approach, often when other approaches haven't worked out for them. In order for a turtle to move forward, it has to stick its neck out. Wraparound challenges systems to support families in unique and strength-based ways, which means staff have to do things differently, and stick their necks out for change to work toward a better future for children, youth and their families.

New Research: Randomized Control Trial Findings of a Wraparound Program for Dually Involved Youth

A new article, "Randomized Control Trial Findings of a Wraparound Program for Dually Involved Youth," published recently in the Journal of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, is the first controlled study of Wraparound to focus on dually involved youth. The article was co-authored by current and former members of the Wraparound Evaluation and & Research Team at the University of Washington, Seattle, including NWI Co-Director Eric Bruns.
