TA Network Webinar: Effectively Integrating the CANS into the Wraparound Process

Date/Time: April 30, 2019 / 11am – 12:30pm PT / 2pm – 3:30pm ET

This webinar will focus on how to best integrate the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment into the Wraparound process. Based on a guidance document developed through a collaboration of the National Wraparound Implementation Center (NWIC) and Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago (organizational home of the CANS), the webinar will summarize differences in the two approaches and discuss how to effectively coordinate the CANS assessment with Wraparound practice.

National Wraparound Implementation Academy

Date/Location: September 9 – 11, 2019 / Baltimore, MD

Registration is now open for the National Wraparound Implementation Academy. The Academy is designed to provide participants involved in Wraparound – care coordinators, care supervisors, state and organizational leaders, parent peer support providers and more – the opportunity to build skills and gain tools and information to use in their states, tribes and organizations. Register by March 31, 2019 for the early bird rate and save $100.

Holly Borel

Holly Borel

Holly Borel is currently the CEO of Spindletop Center, a community mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities center located in Southeast Texas. For this unique NWI Spotlight profile she shares insights gained from one of her many career achievements: playing an instrumental role in the successful implementation of the Wraparound installation at Tropical Texas Behavioral Health during her time as that organization's COO.

Events and Opportunities

Opportunity: Evaluation and Program Operations Specialist

The University of Washington Wraparound Evaluation and Research Team (UW WERT), the accountability wing of the NWIC, is recruiting a high-level Evaluation and Program Operations Specialist. The successful applicant will be located in our office in Seattle, WA, and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our team, and promoting high-quality Wraparound worldwide.

Call for Presentations: National Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health

Extended Submission Deadline: April 5, 2019

The National Federation welcomes proposals from professionals, family members, and youth that support the well-being of our children and promote family voice in children's mental health. The conference will take place November 14–16, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona.

System of Care (SOC) Expansion and Sustainability Grants

Application Deadline: April 19, 2019

The purpose of this program is to improve the mental health outcomes for children and youth, birth through age 21, with serious emotional disturbance, and their families. This program will support the implementation, expansion, and integration of the SOC approach by creating sustainable infrastructure and services that are required as part of the Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services for Children and their Families Program.

Project LAUNCH Children's Health Grant Program

Application Deadline: April 19, 2019

The purpose of this program is to promote the wellness of young children, from birth to 8 years of age, by addressing the social, emotional, cognitive, physical and behavioral aspects of their development. It is expected that this program will provide local communities or tribes the opportunity to disseminate effective and innovative early childhood mental health practices and services, ultimately leading to better outcomes for young children and their families.
