Upcoming Webinar: "The Document Assessment and Review Tool (DART): New Approach to Assessing Fidelity and Quality of Wraparound Care Coordination"

Date/Time: February 5, 2020, 10am – 11:15am PT / 1pm – 2:15pm ET

In this webinar hosted by the TA Network, Eric Bruns, Philip Benjamin and Lydia Andris of the University of Washington Wraparound Evaluation and Research Team (WERT) will introduce the DART, a new measure of the Wraparound Assessment and Fidelity System (WFAS). They will provide the background and context for the development of the DART and describe the instrument in detail. They will also explain how the DART differs from other Wraparound fidelity measures, and provide information on the training and time commitment for data collection and share approaches to sampling and preliminary data on inter-rater reliability.

Wraparound Blog: New Resource Adds to Our Understanding of National Big Picture of Wraparound

Janet Walker, Co-Director of the NWI and a Research Professor in the School of Social Work and the Regional Research Institute at Portland State University, wrote this post about the recently published report from SAMHSA, "Intensive Care Coordination for Children and Youth with Complex Mental and Substance Use Disorders."

Building Better Partnerships with Schools

Part of the Family Engagement and Leadership: Strengthening Systems, Services and Communities learning community, this webinar will present lessons learned from three organizations actively partnering with local school systems to better serve and support children with behavioral health disorders and their families.

NICWA 2020 Champion for Native Children Award

The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) is seeking nominations for its annual Champion for Native Children Award, which honors individual or organization that has made outstanding contributions to the well-being of indigenous children, families, and communities in the United States or Canada.

Understanding the Family First Prevention Service Act: Implications for Tribal Programs

Date/Time: January 13, 2020, 11am – 12pm PT / 2pm – 3pm ET

Part of the Tribal Systems of Care Learning Community, this TA Network webinar will feature David Simmons, Government Affairs and Advocacy Director for the National Indian Child Welfare Association. The discussion will focus on the Family First Prevention Services Act and the new opportunities to address trauma within Native children and families, and new restrictions on how tribes and states can seek funding under the Title IV-E.

33rd Annual Research & Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Behavioral Health

Date/Location: March 15 – 18, 2020, Tampa, FL

Known widely as "The Tampa Conference," this annual gathering of more than 700 researchers, evaluators, policymakers, administrators, parents, and advocates is focused on the development of the research base essential to improved service systems for children and youth with mental health challenges and their families. The keynote speakers for the 2020 conference will be: David R. Williams, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health; Sandra Gasca-Gonzales, Annie E. Casey Foundation; and Gary Blau, The Hackett Center for Mental Health.

38th Annual Protecting Our Children Conference

Date/Location: March 29 – April 1, 2020, Denver, CO

NICWA hosts the largest annual national gathering on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) child advocacy issues. The more than 1,400 attendees are a cross-section of experts, including child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice service providers; legal professionals; students; advocates for children; and tribal and federal leaders.

2020 Training Institutes

Date/Location: June 29 – 30, 2020 (Pre-Institutes) / July 1 – 3, 2020 (Training Institutes), Orlando, FL

Registration is now open for the 2020 Training Institutes, #WhatCouldBe: Bolder Systems & Brighter Futures for Children, Youth, Young Adults & their Families. Conference sessions will focus on topic areas that are critical components of effective delivery systems for children, youth, young adults, and families. Presentations address the system of care core values of community-based, family-driven, youth-driven, and culturally and linguistically responsive designs, models, services, and approaches. Presenters and attendees are experts and leaders in the field of children’s services including parents, youth, young adults, policymakers, clinicians, researchers, and evaluators from communities across the nation. Early bird registration deadline is January 6, 2020.
