A Comprehensive Review of Wraparound Care Coordination Research, 1986 – 2014

Jennifer Schurer Coldiron, Eric Bruns and Hattie Quick, with the UW Wraparound Evaluation and Research Team (WERT) have published a new article in the Journal of Child and Family Studies. This article reviews 206 Wraparound-related publications. Among these were 123 empirical studies – 22 of which were controlled studies. The article discusses the findings of these studies and highlights future Wraparound research needs.

Wraparound Conference (Hui) in New Zealand

Dr. Eric Bruns, Co-Director of the National Wraparound Initiative and Dr. Ruth Gammon of Massey University in New Zealand, were keynote speakers at a New Zealand national hui about Wraparound earlier this month. The event offered information and training workshops for those who work with at-risk children and families.

Dr. Eric Bruns was also featured on Radio New Zealand regarding the national hui. During the interview, Dr. Bruns and Dr. Gammon discuss the problems with siloed systems in New Zealand and present Wraparound as a means to coordinate care effectively and efficiently across systems.

Webinar: Effective Strategies in Addressing Trauma in Children of Incarcerated Parents

Date / Time: March 2, 2017, 10am – 11:30am PST / 1 – 2:30pm EST

This webinar will address trauma in children of incarcerated parents, focusing on the epidemiology, social, emotional and economic impact of parental incarceration. Presenters will discuss behavioral health and primary care coordination for this population, bonding visits, advocacy, cross-cultural communication and law enforcement policies and protocols.

Webinar: Teenagers and Social Anxiety

Date / Time: March 9, 2017, 10am – 11am PST / 1 – 2pm EST

Dr. Erin Berman, Clinical Psychologist will present this webinar on adolescents and social anxiety. Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of social anxiety disorder as well as strategies to help teens learn different ways of reacting to social worries and concerns.

Webinar: Irritable Kids – What the Research Teaches Us

Date / Time: March 30, 2017, 10am – 11am PST / 1 – 2pm EST

Learn about Severe Irritability and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation (DMDD) in Children & Youth with Dr. Kenneth Towbin, with the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Towbin will discuss common signs and severity of symptoms, how parents can help, what treatments exist, and ongoing research by NIMH.
