National Wraparound Implementation Academy Registration is Filling Up!

The National Wraparound Implementation Center is offering a three-day Academy focused on high quality, research-based Wraparound implementation September 19 – 21, 2016 at the Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel and Executive Meeting Center: 1750 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852.

This Academy will feature top national experts in Wraparound and broader children's behavioral health. For the first time, the Academy will host sessions designed for Wraparound facilitators to enhance their skillsets. Other sessions are designed to meet the needs of parent partners, family and youth leaders, researchers and evaluators, supervisors and managers, and policy-makers and administrators.

This Academy is intentionally designed to be more intimate to support skill development and has limited registration space. Registration is quickly filling up! See the agenda at-a-glance and REGISTER now!

Upcoming NWI Webinar: Practice, Organization, and Quality Standards for Wraparound

Date / Time: September 7, 2016, 11am – 12pm PDT / 2pm – 3pm EDT

In this webinar, the UW Wraparound Evaluation and Research Team (WERT) will present a new resource of the NWI – a comprehensive summary of Practice, Organization, and System Standards for Wraparound. The webinar will explain the development of these standards – still in draft form for review and pilot testing – and describe how to use the tool for Wraparound planning and self-assessment.

Have you checked out the NWI’s YouTube Channel lately? You’ll find a wealth of information including our most recent addition: "Using Administrative CANS Data for Benchmarking and Outcomes Monitoring in State-Wide Wraparound Initiatives." This presentation was delivered by Dr. Eric Bruns, Co-Director of the NWI, at the 29th Annual Research and Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Behavioral Health.

Member Spotlight

Spencer Hensley

Spencer Hensley

Spencer Hensley has been a member of the Wraparound Evaluation and Research Team (WERT) at the University of Washington for five years. During that time, he has worked closely with sites across the country, helping to guide evaluation projects, and facilitate understanding of results. Spencer is excited to be WERT’s new Evaluation Technical Assistance Specialist and he will be joining his colleagues at the National Wraparound Implementation Academy.

Keeping Kids Safe: Promoting Tolerance and Inclusion Among Students to Prevent Bullying

Date / Location: August 12, 2016, Washington, DC

The upcoming 2016 Federal Bullying Prevention Summit will focus on the strategies schools, students, parents, and community members can use to ensure that all students have supportive educational environments within which to learn. This year, there will be a special emphasis on the issues facing transgender youth, students with disabilities, as well as Muslim and Sikh students.

Learning Community: Family-Driven Care Across Systems

Date / Time: Thursday, August 18, 2016, 12pm – 1:30pm PDT / 3pm – 4:30pm EDT

The Learning Community for Family Leaders will explore how family-run organizations can partner across systems such as child welfare, juvenile justice, substance use, mental health and education to embed family-driven care principles.
