American Indian and Alaska Native families have experienced repeated, historic, intergenerational, complex trauma resulting in an array of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). This presentation will examine how culture and caring relationships can help build resilience and promote mental health. The presenter, Terry Cross, Senior Advisor, National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA), will illustrate why culture matters and how to use it to help heal historic and current trauma.
